Hello and welcome to Year 5!
My name is Miss Shemtob and I will be your child’s class teacher alongside Miss Coren who will be teaching Jewish Studies. As part of our team we will be working closely with Mrs Greene, our Ivrit Teacher and Mrs Greenfield, our Music teacher. Your children will be supported by our lovely teaching assistants Mrs Rinkoff and Mrs Cohen.
In Year Five, the children will continue to be encouraged to be independent, responsible learners and reflective thinkers through a range of exciting topics. In Mathematics, we will be exploring a range of different number representations and analysing geometric patterns and measurements. We will be reading a range of different novels and writing for different purposes throughout the year, to encourage the children to become confident in expanding their vocabulary, analysing text and creating their own narratives. We will continue to support your child’s spelling by encouraging them to phonetically sound out words and use a dictionary when necessary. The children will continue to learn all about the Chaggim in more depth and will continue to develop their understanding of the Parashiot and Jewish knowledge.
The children will have the opportunity to visit the school’s library every Monday to borrow a book and will have PE lessons every Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child brings in the correct PE uniform, clearly named. Please be reminded that plimsolls are required for indoor PE and white trainers are for outside games.
We are looking forward to having a brilliant year!
