Hello and welcome to our very first Year 6!
My name is Miss Levy and I will be teaching Year 6 this year alongside Rabbi Herman who will be teaching Jewish Studies. Mrs Greene, our Ivrit teacher, Mrs Greenfield, our Music teacher, Mrs Cohen, Mrs Benton and Mrs Levitan will also be helping to support your children’s learning throughout the year.
This year, the children will continue to develop and apply their mathematical knowledge which will include problem solving and algebra. The children will continue to explore a range of quality text and write for different purposes. We will also be placing an emphasis on handwriting and presentation.
The children we continue to develop their learning through an integrated and creative curriculum and become more resilient and reflective learners. Our classroom will be a vibrant place of learning and independent thinking. Our goal is to develop academically, and prepare the children for life beyond year 6.
Our first topic this school year will be ‘Moving People’. The children will learn that sometimes people choose to move and sometimes this movement is forced upon them. Both can have an impact on the societies and places that they leave behind, and those that they join at their journey’s end. We will be exploring this in a historical and geographical context.
It is such a pleasure to be teaching your children this year as they embark on the final chapter of their primary school journey. I hope that your child enjoys the challenges and experiences that Year 6 has to offer!
We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead!
