Art Week 2016

In Nursery, we enjoyed lots of creative activities. We have learnt how to print with our wellies on large scrolls of paper. We have also enjoyed creating bubble wrap printing pictures and mixing colours with paint brushes. A highlight of the week was splatting paint onto large paper outside creating firework pictures.

In Reception, we enjoyed using malleable materials to create a range of sculptures. We created fruit with clay and trees with play dough, linking to Tu Bishevat. We also painted using a range of materials such yarn painting, marble rolling and brush painting. The children thoroughly enjoyed Art Week!

In Year One, we looked at Andy Warhol style of painting and made our own version as our class display. We mixed paint to replicate different shades of green. Also we looked carefully at the tree bark and reflected the pattern in our own painting.

In Year 2 we looked at some paintings from the Almond Blossom series by Vincent Van Gogh and made our own versions. We created different coloured backgrounds by mixing paint and then collaged twigs and tissue paper to make the branches and blossom.  We also did our own still-life sketches of different flowers in vases.

In Year 3, We explored printing during art week. We used card to build their own emboss plates, which together with wax crayons, they used to create fantastic rubs. They drew inspiration from Andy Warhol to design their own pattern print. The children built their printing stamps from foam plates and experimented with repeating a pattern in different ways, some overlapped their image, some rotated the print and others kept it neat and tidy side by side. We also used pencils to make still life drawing of fruit. The most exciting printing was our vegetable print t-shirts. All of our art for the week was themed around Tubishvat and was a great to see many of the children wearing their art as part of our Tubishvat celebrations.

In Year 4, we looked at the pattern, formation and shape of various trees. Having practised our cutting skills, we drew our own trees on to card.  Then we cut them accurately for our tree silhouettes.

We experimented with colour, shades, tones and hues to make a wash as a background for our tree pictures. We had two colours and had to create as many shades as we could in between the two colours.  The class thought it would be a lovely idea to make something to wear on Tu Bishvat. We brought in T shirts which we used for printing.  Mrs Levy brought in some cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. What fun we had creating tree motifs using the vegetables for printing! Having practised on paper we used fabric paint and the vegetables to make out Tu Bishvat designs.  We were so proud to wear our creations on Tu Bishvat!
