Book Week

We had a fantastic Book Week. Each day offered a totally new experience for the children.
A highlight for Nursery, Reception and Year One was a workshop with Ashley from the West End Theatre Company. He showed the children how to act out the whole story using their bodies and music! Tuesday started off in a most unusual way with the family reading session.  Every class walked to Mill Hill library where we were learnt all about the different books available.  The library was kind enough to give us all a book which we can keep to read, you do not have to return it! On Wednesday, everyone met the author, Karen McCombie, who has had over 90 stories published - she told us all about how she grew up and really inspired us to become authors. She ran workshops with Year One to Year Six, helping the children to generate lots of exciting ideas for their writing. Thursday was the ‘Hat Walk’. It was amazing how creative and well-read our children are. They all looked fabulous! Friday was our book swap, all the books looked so inviting we struggled to choose just one or two we could take home.  The children have really enjoyed taking books and not just reading them but immersing themselves in all that books and reading can offer.
