Kingswood

Year 6 all had a fantastic time at Kingswood.

Their first activity, was Aeroball. The children bounced on trampolines and tried to work with a partner to score goals by shooting balls in nets. After that they enjoyed their dinner of bbq chicken drumsticks and chocolate pudding. The highlight of their day was experiencing the 3G swing where they faced the unknown and reached new heights.

On Monday, the children experienced abseiling, fencing and had a go at the Leap of Faith where they climbed up to a small platform at the top of a tall pole and leapt to catch a trapeze swing. They also worked collaboratively  with a partner to climb the Jacob’s Ladder. After orienteering in the afternoon, they all enjoyed campfire in the evening, complete with marshmallows on sticks.

On Tuesday, there were even more opportunities to climb to heady heights. In the Powerfan activity, the children climbed up a tall metal tower. Some reached the top and then jumped off a platform where they fell through the air until they were gently lowered to the ground.

In Team Tech, they were challenged to work together to build different objects using plastic pieces including a shoe rack and a really tall tower.
In the Problem solving course the children had to work as a team to overcome different challenges. Year 6 loved the Laser activity where they had to protect their president, and the Obstacle Challenge. Later on that day, they used their listening skills to solve a crime in the Trial of Mystery.

After dinner the children completed one last climbing activity, the High Equilibrium. They climbed up to a really high seesaw where they had to work with a partner to make the seesaw balance.

Their final activities on Wednesday were Chariots, where they worked in teams to build a chariot using different components and Bottle Rockets where they had to use trial and error to fire bottles into a target. The bottles contained different amounts of water and a pump was used to send them hurtling through the air. The children took on different roles in their groups to complete the activity.

The teaching staff were so proud of how well the children looked out for each other and how the class worked collaboratively to support each other over the three days and nights.
