Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School

Book Week 2015

The children thoroughly enjoyed a week of fun and exciting activities to celebrate Book Week 2015.  The week started with an inspiring visit from the author Andrew Weale. He led an engaging and hilarious assembly where he shared the books that he had written.  During the day, each class had the pleasure of taking part in a story telling workshop where they all joined in reading one of his stories.  Throughout the week, each class visited Mill Hill Library and carried out a mini treasure hunt to locate different types of books. They learnt about where different types of books were located and discussed the many facilities of the library.  Some children took part in a book swap where the children brought in a book from home and swapped it for a different book. On Wednesday, parents were invited in to school to read with their children in the classroom – it was a lovely start to the day! In addition, the fantastic PJ Library loaned their 'bed' of books where children enjoyed reading a number of Jewish stories. The week finished with Rabbi Schochet and Rabbi Bazak reading stories to the children.
