Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School

Places available for Nursery 2020-2021

Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School has worked with the Office of the Chief Rabbi and the United Synagogue as part of a group application to vary our admission arrangements for the 2021/22 academic year. A revised, interim Certificate of Religious Practice (CRP) form has been submitted to the Education Skills and Funding Agency (ESFA) as part of this application. The Office of the ESFA is currently processing an exceptionally large number of similar applications from schools across the country as a result of Covid-19. We have not yet received notification that our application to vary our admission arrangements by using this revised CRP form has been approved.  However, we know that some schools using the same form have had their application approved. The CRP process would, in a regular year, have commenced at the start of May. Therefore, in order to allow parents sufficient time to complete the requirements of this interim CRP form, and having taken legal advice, Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School has taken the decision to publish the form in advance of formal confirmation from the Office of the ESFA so that parents are informed of the requirements necessary to establish faith priority for admission to the school.

Etz Chaim Nursery provision to close at the end of July 2021

The school has experienced a sustained year-on-year decrease in demand for nursery school places, as there has been an increase in non-school Nursery provision in the area, coupled with an overall reduction in demand for school places across Barnet as a whole.

After careful consideration by the Etz Chaim Governing Body, it became clear that continuing the Nursery provision was no longer economically viable.

Consciously attuned to the voices and needs of our Parent Body, who have moved away from demanding a Nursery to instead calling for wrap around care, we are hoping that the closure of the Nursery will allow us the opportunity to explore these options and better serve the changing needs.
