Hello and welcome to Nursery!
My name is Miss Genn, and I am very excited to be the Nursery Teacher at Etz Chaim, this will be my fifth year in Etz Chaim’s Foundation Stage. I will be working closely with Mrs Talisman who will be teaching Jewish Studies and Mrs Meyer the Ivrit teacher.
Mrs Talisman is looking forward to teaching Jewish Studies this year. The children will be learning all about the Chagim and Jewish life. She will also be supporting the children with their secular learning.
Throughout the year the children will be given the opportunity to learn through play in a safe, stimulating and supportive environment. All children learn in different ways and it is important to involve their interests in all activities. The children are given choices and have free flow between the indoor classroom and the outside area. Observations will be taken of the children in each area of learning to plan and develop meaningful activities. The activities will be fun, interactive and engaging to match the abilities and interests of the children so they can reach their full potential. The children will also take part in circle times, where we will talk about different things happening in the world and in our lives.
There will be daily yoga, and physical activities to strengthen their core and upper body strength, this will get them ready to write. The children will be developing their mathematical skills in number, problem solving, shape, and space and measuring
The children will have weekly PE session, where they will have opportunities to use the gymnastics equipment as well as develop their ball skills and hand-eye co-ordination.
I am looking forward to the exciting year ahead
