Hello and welcome to Year 5!
Hello and Welcome to Year 5!
I am Mrs Gishen and I will be your child's class teacher. I will be teaching alongside Ms Pieters who will be teaching Jewish Studies and Mrs Meyer who will be teaching Ivrit.
We will be supporting the children's academic journeys through a range of exciting and interesting topics. Our first topic is 'Moving People' where we will be looking at immigration and why people migrate. We will be looking into our identities and how our families came to be in London. To accompany these topics we will be going on some exciting trips to enhance your child's learning experience. We will also be preparing for our Shabbaton which myself and the children are looking forward to.
We will be exploring different types of texts and writing styles throughout the year. We will also be working on increasing the children's confidence in handwriting and spelling. In mathematics we will be focusing on strengthening the children's understanding of place value, operations, geometry and measurements. They will be applying their knowledge to a range of problem solving scenarios. We will have the opportunity to visit the school library once a week. PE will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
We look forward to a great year ahead in Year 5!
