Year 4 Caves

Year 4 used the computers to access a virtual tour of the Lascaux Caves. They studied the Cave Art for inspiration for their own work. Some children made Cave drawings on ‘the cave ceiling’ by lying on the floor as the paper was stuck on the underside of a table. Some went outside to use sticks to paint their cave pictures using paint they made from mud, soil, sand and water. The class then told the story, through art, of a day in the life of a Stone Age scavenger. They drew with charcoal and used their hands to add colour with paint onto the material to produce a whole class tableaux.
