Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School

Science Workshop

During the session, the children were looking energy and potential energy. First they were given springs with characters on  that stuck to the table. The had to press them down and wait to see how fly they flew up and whether pressing down hard and putting on different surfaces made a difference. They then made pendulums  with thin wired string and metal  bolts tied on the end. They had to see how many ties the pendulum swung when attached to the table. After they counted, the children then attached a larger bolt to the bottom and looked whether it made a difference. They learnt that the size of the bolt and power of the swing did not make any difference to the motion.
