Year 3 and 4's Workshop

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a fantastic workshop by Geobus. The lady explained the structure of the earth and showed how the mantle was a solid with liquid properties. The children were all provided  putty and were told to stretch it out. They watched how it stretched longer and longer. They were then told to make the putty quite thick and snap it in half. The lady then explained how volcanoes erupt due to pressure building inside the mantle. The children completed an experiment by putting water and a fizzing vitamin in a small container. They quickly put on the lid and stepped. As the pressure built, the lid shot up into the air.
