Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School

Chanukah

We had an action packed Chanukah at Etz Chaim this year! Steven Melzack led a fantastic sing-along for all our parents and children at candle lighting on Monday 7th December.

On Tuesday 8th December we welcomed 120 children from Fairways, Frith Manor and St Vincents Schools to our candle lighting. They really enjoyed hearing all our Chanukah songs as well as a special Chanukah story from Rabbi Proops. In addition, Reception welcomed the Reception class from Mathilda Marks Kennedy School for a Chanukah party and served special Chanukah biscuits which they had baked themselves! Year 3 and 4 also enjoyed iPad workshops with their parents in which they created e-books about Chanukah.

On Wednesday 9th December we had a visit from a viola player who gave us a special concert and taught the children about composing music. We were joined by all our grandparents for candle lighting and it was very special to see grandchildren and grandparents singing the Chanukah berachot together. Rabbi Bazak led the candle lighting and told the children a special story about a runaway doughnut!

On Thursday 10th December the children enjoyed a special quiz during candle lighting and on Friday 11th December our candle lighting was extra special as it was done as part of the official opening of our amazing new playground! Rabbi Schochet led the candle lighting and all the children and parents enjoyed another helping of doughnuts! We are now looking forward to Tu BiShevat!
