Year 2's Trip to the Welsh Harp 2015

Year 2 had a very enjoyable day during their trip to the Welsh Harp where the children explored and developed their understand of the topic 'Water'!  The children loved predicting, experimenting and explaining what happened in a number of water activities using scientific language.  They particularly enjoyed making a paper clip sit on the surface of the water as well as learning how to make an egg float.

We discussed how rain water would flow and affect different places in the world which showed us the best place for humans to live and also saw a 'secret stream.'

The children kick started the afternoon by understanding water needs to be filtered before we drink it, together they made a water filter and were proud to see the clear water drip through!

The children loved exploring the different creatures in the pond whilst pond dipping as well as decorating a butterfly with leaves and plants from the gardens.
