Year 2

Year 2 loved their trip to Moat Mount and enjoyed participating in a range of different team building activities. 

The class worked very hard to sew materials together to create beautiful Pesach pillows. 

The class enjoyed retelling our class book (Attack of the Heebies Jeebies by Tom Percival) as a drama performance. 

In Maths, Year 2 explored place value through making a range of two digits numbers using different resources. They included Numicon, pegs, counters and Dienes. 

The children enjoyed designing, creating and painting their Chanukiot. 

During table top, the children played giant Dobble, matching the pictures on each card. This improved their communication skills and teamwork. 

During Science Week Year 2 conducted an experiment to see if soil was essential for plant growth. 

This term, the class have learnt about the different classifications of animals. Year 2 have enjoyed researching the facts for themselves! 

The class have loved observing the different stages of a chicks life cycle.

This term Year 2 have been fortunate to have a Da Capo session where they were able to listen to a live cello performance. 

For the class topic of Achdut, the children read a book called 'Here We Are' by Oliver Jeffers. One particular page reads 'People come in many shapes, sizes and colours. We may all look different, act different and sound different...but don't be fooled, we are all people.' The class went on to create their own image of everyone in the class.

Year 2 worked extremely hard to create a range of different habitats using a range of materials. 

The children enjoyed making different 3D shapes and began to identify their different properties and their relationship to 2D shapes.

This term the children have been introduced to joined up handwriting. They have been working extremely hard at following the joins with their fingers before writing them on whiteboards and in their books.

One fun activity we did to conclude a week was who can spot the country first! We explored continents and countries during this activity. 

During Ivrit, the children were able to match different pictures to their Ivrit names, creating short sentences in Hebrew.
