Year 4

For Shavuot, the children made their own delicious cheesecakes. 

Throughout Mental Health Week, Year 4 were lucky enough to take part in a yoga session. They enjoyed learning different positions.

Year 4 celebrated walking the length of Israel and were awarded medals for their efforts.

For Pesach, the children really enjoyed creating Elijah's cup by using clay and moulding it around a plastic cup. 

In Maths, they learnt about many different things, including the properties of 4-digit numbers, learning how to order these by looking at the various digits within the number.

To link with our topic of 'significant people', the children learnt about Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks. The class created posters detailing the different facts about this amazing man's life.

The children enjoyed learning about Martin Luther King for Black History Month. They learnt all about who he was and why he is a significant figure. They performed and re wrote his ‘I Have A Dream’ speech.

In Science, the children were learning about States of Matter and the Water Cycle. They investigated how long it might take for a puddle to evaporate.

The class studied the natural art of Andy Goldsworthy and James Blunt. They then used natural materials to create their own mini sculptures. James Blunt even commented on the post on our school Instagram page!

The children continued working on their Elijah's cups for their Pesach craft by decorating them with paint, glitter and sequins.

On no pens day, the children had fun completing a maths game linked with a class favourite - Among Us. They had to convince the others in their group of the correct or incorrect answer.

At the start of the year, the children thought about five stepping stones they could use to help them solve problems with friendships and in the playground. The stepping stones were discuss, negotiate, compromise, support and evaluate. The children made up short plays about how they could use these stepping stones in a real life situation.

The children learnt what a birds eye view was. They explored different examples of birds eye view. They went into the playground to see what it looked like and then mapped out a birds eye view.

The children have been enjoying their fornightly Heads Up sessions, learning about emotional literacy. The children were asked to get into a position that represented friendship.

The class have been enjoying learning to play the recorder each week.

Over Yom Ha'Atzmaut, the children wore blue and white and celebrated Israel's birthday by creating a Magen Dovid with their bodies.

A really fun lesson was where the children learnt how to mix skin colour. They all began with white paint, adding some yellow, a little red and a dot of blue. In order to match their own skin tone, the children painted little dabs of their mixed paint onto their forearm. They continued to add various colours to improve their paint shade.

In Science, the children learnt about electricity. They understood that a circuit has many components and that these will only work if they are connected to each other.

The children had the exciting task of recreating The Battle of San Romano painting. They decided to split the main painting into four parts and recreate each section using different materials. This was done with paint, tissue paper and oil pastels.
