Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School

Year 6 Leaver's Assembly

Year 6 said their fond farewell to Etz Chaim in front of the children and staff past and present as well as their parents and some special guests. The Leavers’ Assembly opened with the children’s rendition of the school song ‘Let Us Grow’ which included a new verse and chorus written especially for Year 6. They then sang a medley of ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheehan and ‘Lecha Dodi’.
After this they performed a poem of their ‘A to Z of Etz Chaim’ which incorporated many of the values they have learnt during their time here. After this was an emotional ceremony where the children each thanked Etz Chaim for something they had been taught and symbolically handed the baton to Year 5 with a message.
Then Rabbi Schochet, our Principal, spoke, he reminded them about lessons they learnt at their Chaggigat HaSiddur in Year One and how they had taken these forward.
Following this, each child was presented with their graduation certificate by Mrs Baron and their Year Book, and gifts of a Haggadah and key ring, by Councillor David Longstaff. Then Mrs Baron read out a letter from Lord Levy, our Patron, who unfortunately was unable to join us.
The staff performed a poem to Year 6, ‘Let No-one Steal your Dreams’.
Then Year 6 returned to the stage to sing a very emotional ‘Wherever I Go’.
Adam Dawson, our founder and Chair of Governors then spoke, wishing the children a fond farewell.
Finally there was a photo video showing the children’s journey through Etz Chaim.
It was an emotional assembly for everyone, saying goodbye to our first set of graduates. We wish them all lots of happiness and success in their new primary schools.
