Chanukah 2018

Chanukah at Etz Chaim was another jam-packed week, with plenty of crafts and doughnuts to go around! Classes enjoyed making edible Chanukiot with SEED, with Foundation Stage and Year 1 creating them out of biscuits and sweets, while the older children made them out of vegetables.

Our whole school candle lightings were a big success, with Fairway school joining us for one of the nights, and a sing-a-long each time. Stephen Melzack even joined us for the third night of Chanukah, singing his well-known favourites and a few new ones.

The Year 5 girls entertained residents at the Leonard Sainer Centre, singing Chanukah tunes and lighting the Chanukah with them.

The highlight of the week was the family candle lighting on the fifth night of Chanukah, held in the playground at school. Rabbi Bazak spoke and then helped to light the beautiful Chanukiah, made from jars filled with coloured oil. Children and parents enjoyed delicious doughnuts and joined in with singing some songs.
