Tu Bishevat at Etz Chaim

Nursery and Reception had so much fun on Tu Bishevat.  They created fruit pictures in the style of Giuseppe Arcimboldo during the morning and in the afternoon the party started! The children had a Tu Bishevat disco with our new disco ball kindly bought from the PSA Chanukah Gift List. Party games included pass the parcel and with every wrapper there was a question for the children to answer. They felt different types of fruit and tried to guess what the inside of some very exotic fruits looked like. No party would be complete without food and the children enjoyed eating many different types of fruit.

Year 1 and 2 joined together for a carousel of exciting Tu Bishevat activities including exotic fruit tasting, fruit kebab making, collaging fruit tree shapes and drawing symmetrical patterns. The children ate a variety of fruits that grow on the trees and on the ground. The children all had a wonderful time and took home some art work as well.

Year 3 and 4 celebrated Tu BiShevat with a Tu BiShevat Seder. They discussed the importance of trees and imagined a world without trees. This made them realise how lucky we are to have trees and how important it is to look after our environment and the trees. They ate different types of fruit and discussed how special and different each fruit is.

Year 5 and 6 came together to enjoy a beautiful Tu Bishevat seder. The children sang songs, brainstormed uses of trees, discussed the seven species and drank four cups of grape juice corresponding to the four different types of fruit that grow on the trees. The children were treated to a variety of fruit that grow on the trees and on the ground.
