Chanukah

Chanukah is always an exciting time in school and this year was no different! The children really enjoyed designing and making their own chanukiot: lower down the school these were made from clay and decorated beautifully by the children and in Years 5 and 6 the children decorated tiles inspired by artist's works and linking to their Space topic and used glue-guns to attach hexnuts as candle holders. We hope that everyone enjoyed lighting candles using their own chanukiot at home!

In class the children learnt about the Chanukah story, played dreidels, learned new Chanukah songs and made their own Chanukah games. The highlight every day was lighting Chanukah candles together as a school via Teams. As part of these assemblies, we listened to stories from Rabbis Shochet, Bazak and Zeidman and had a sing-off competition between all the classes of the new songs they learnt for Chanukah

The children also had a chance to join in the PAJES interschool candle lighting with a large number of children in the UK and Israel. Tribe visited us with their Chanukah van, bringing songs, fun and Chanukah goodie bags for all the children! The fun just did not stop this Chanukah and it brought real joy and light to all.
