Book Week

We really enjoyed our Book Week. This year our focus was poetry. Children read, learned and performed a range of poems. We looked at three poems by Joshua Seigal, Reception and Key Stage One focused on “Out in the playground”, Years 3 and 4 looked at “National Champion Athlete” and Years 5 and 6 studied “When I close my eyes”. Then the children had a go at planning and writing their own poetry based on these. They generated lovely ideas. Then the “winning” poems for each class were read out in a sharing assembly.

Other highlights were the Family Reading session and Peer reading sessions where the older children read with the younger children across the school. We also loved guessing the Masked Readers.
