Ramadan Assembly 2015

During our assembly on Ramadan we discussed how long people fast, who would be allowed to fast during this time and the purpose of fasting. The children recognised that when we fast, our mind is not thinking about our next meal or snack and the fact that Muslims are not supposed to watch television, meant that they would be more focused on prayer and thinking about good deeds they could fulfil in the future. We discussed what we thought were good deeds and how, after Yom Kippur, we too try to better our behaviour and actions towards others and try to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Finally we learnt that at the end of their month of fasting, they have a huge celebration called Eid al-Fitr.
