Year 3's Trip 2015

Year 3 enjoyed a fabulous trip to the Tate Modern Art Gallery, linked with their IPC topic Paintings, Pictures and Photographs. They enjoyed travelling on the train from Mill Hill Broadway to London Blackfriars Station. The children enjoyed seeing the view of the River Thames and the City Skyline. They spent some time in one of the galleries and looked closely at a painting they particularly liked. They then used oil pastels to create their own paintings inspired by the ones in the gallery. After lunch, the children spent time along the river and drew the skyline using graphite pencils. They enjoyed seeing the different effects of the different types of pencils and investigated how to show light and dark in their drawings. They each had the opportunity of photographing their view to use as part of their learning back in the classroom.
